Skiing:Lowes Creek County Park is a 250 acre park located just a couple miles south of Eau Claire off S. Lowes Creek Road in the town of Washington. Lowes Creek, a trout stream which flows through the park, is spanned with a bridge giving hiking and skiing access to both sides of the creek. This scenic park is located outside the city of Eau Claire. The park itself is built around Lowes Creek; a small, winding stream making its way north to the Chippewa River. It’s a fun place to ride for beginners or riders who want an easy cruise. And, you have ready access to the attractions Eau Claire has to offer, especially if you use Fairfax Park for a trailhead. The two-way cross-country ski trail system has numerous loops and shortcuts allowing nearly endless route variety. The riding takes place under the cover of a hardwood forest that turns into a sea of reds, oranges, and yellows in autumn. The 1.3-mile upper loop is particularly interesting for those looking for a rounded fitness program. Ski trails at Tower Ridge and at Lowes Creek Nature Park with the Eau Claire County will be plus. Biking and Bicycle Route Planning:Lowes Creek County Park is working with the local bike group, CORBA (Chippewa Valley Off Road Bike Assoc) to build and maintain single-track trails. The cross-country ski trails are also available for riding. Group rides every Monday at 6pm (all levels welcome) meet at Lowes Creek County Park. Lowes Creek County Park, located in the Town of Washington on S. Lowes Creek Road has recently been expanded in order to welcome mountain bikers to the area. Pick a destination in Eau Claire (for example Fairfax Pool, Oakwood Mall, Lowes Creek Park, airport, etc). Plan a route and take city streets and an expanding trail system to reach your goal (caution for traffic dangers). Horse-drawn rides:Experience a Christmas tradition complete with horse-drawn sleigh rides, bonfires, free hot apple cider & candy canes, hand made wreaths, and hand planted trees in lowes creek tree farm. It is a 290 acre family owned choose-n-cut Christmas Tree operation located in the Wisconsin Northwoods. Wonderful place for families especially at Christmas time, with the horse-drawn rides to the fields. Lowes Creek Tree Farm and Ranch:There is a Ranch in the middle of a valley - surrounded by Pine trees. You walk up to the grand house and are welcomed by the smell of Cider with Cinnamon with a background of evergreens. Walking into the grand house you see a tree covered with unique ornaments and pine boughs throughout.
