Tower Ridge Ski Trail

Largest 15 miles of cross-country skiing on a groomed, flat or hilly and open track in both Eau Claire County and in west central Wisconsin, disc golf, hiking trails and pit toilets can all be found here.

The ski trails include wooded, rolling terrain, and are groomed and tracked on the highest priority basis of the four ski trails offered by the county. Two courses, one in town at Mount Simon City Park, the other just a few miles east of Eau Claire at the Tower Ridge Recreation Area. Located at County Road L and open year round. This trail offers something for all skill levels from beginner to expert.

ACTIVITIES:

• Fundraised/secured grants of $68,000 for trail lighting at Tower Ridge.

• Fundraised/secured grants of $178,000 for a multi-use building at Tower Ridge.

• Placed the original “cabin warming house” at Tower Ridge.

• Facilitated development of additional ski trails at Tower Ridge and at Lowes Creek Nature Park with the Eau Claire County

Tower Ridge Ski Trail passes

Daily/annual vehicle entrance passes are required for the following ski trails and are separate from the Tower Ridge Winter Recreation pass.15 miles of trails, including beginner, intermediate and expert. Striding and skating. Daily or Seasonal trail passes available.

Cost: $3 for a day-pass. $15 (I think) for a season-pass.

Walking over natural wonderland:

The walk is really easy and there are different routes to take, take a walk and lose you in this breath taking natural wonderland.

Golf

Tower Ridge Country Club or at nearby golf courses, usually offered at a discount from the normal rate. Disc golf course is heavily wooded with many elevation changes. Long, narrow fairways provide challenge. It offers tight fairways, lots of elevation changes, and lots of places to lose a disc. Each hole has multiple tees. The short tees play par 63. If you're short on time, you can play 9 holes. Just take the detour after hole 5.

Snowshoeing:

Tower Ridge also offers snowshoeing and gives you a chance to still get a great workout by doing something a different. Great trails--hills and flats--for all levels. Groomed for both classical and skating. There are about 3km of lighted trails. Find an excellent facility, plenty of snow, warming shelter and great grooming throughout.

Horseback riding

While the Eau Claire county forest is open for horseback riding, horses are not allowed in county parks with the only exception being  a horse hitching area at the Coon Fork dayside.  Two signed riding trails are in the forest, one east of Lake Eau Claire off CTH G and the other in a portion of Tower Ridge Recreation Area.

Direction and location:

East of Eau Claire off Hwy L, Hwy 53 N. Right at Birch Street (County Q). Take County Q to County QQ. Left on County Hwy L. Located off CTH I in the town of Seymour. 10.6 miles in length.
