Stock car racing is held every Friday night at the Dunn County Rec Park at 7:30 p.m. Races begin the first Friday in May and end the last Friday in August. If you're bringing children along on your visit the many parks and recreational activities in Dunn County, including the band concerts, water park, skate park, bike trails, and floating down the Red Cedar river. Visitors can view the area’s beauty while hiking or biking on the Red Cedar State Trail. Take a leisurely drive on Rustic Road #89 – it’s especially brilliant during fall color season. Historians will enjoy Dunn County’s Caddie Woodlawn Historic Park, Mabel Tainter Theater, and other historic offerings. If you golf, you’ll appreciate the area’s picturesque courses. Or try your hand at “disc golf” at Wakanda Park. Located in Menomonie's Wakanda Park, the Heritage Museum is home to the Dunn County Historical Society and the Dunn County Genealogical Society. Visitors enjoy an award-winning display of local history using sophisticated and interactive exhibits. A 60-foot-high observation tower crowns one of the highest points in Dunn County, offering spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, especially in autumn. A disability need not keep you from participating in fishing and other outdoor recreational activities. You will have the opportunity to use a boat or pontoon to fish on Lake Menomin with accessible facilities, adaptive recreation equipment, and friends and family to provide the assistance you need. A modern firehouse also offers the latest communications for service to the Dunn County area. Thousands of cars on Interstate 94 pass over hungry walleyes every day in these two drainage lakes of the Red Cedar River in Dunn County, with few folks According to the folks at Ken's Archery & Bait in Menomonie, the best action comes off of Elk Point and Clay Bar up in 1,752-acre Tainter Lake at first and last ice, with fishing in the river between Tainter and Menomin "a virtually untapped resource" due to concern over river currents. Red Cedar Bend is located only 3 miles from Menomonie on the Red Cedar River with easy boating access to Lake Menomin just one mile downstream. Lake Menomin is 1,405 acres with 34' depths adn is one of Dunn County's best recreational lakes - great fishing and boating. If this winter turns into anything like the last one, the area out from the I-94 bridge pilings where the Red Cedar necks down at the entrance to Lake Menomin will be a great place to target walleyes again this winter. Plus there are several deep holes at outside turns between the two lakes worth exploring.
