Bubbafest is a local tournament which Bubba’s Paintball in Elk Mound, Wisconsin hosts each year. The format of the tournament is a six player team competing on both wooded fields and on the open speedball field. During game play there is only one flag in the center of the field and the object is to get the flag and take it to the opposing teams’ original starting point at the opposite end of the field. This usually occurs when all players on the opposing team have been eliminated. The points per game are awarded as follows: Twenty-five points for flag capture, and fifty points for hanging the flag. Bubba's Paintball is an American Paintball League (APL) Safety Certified course. The field is insured with the American Paintball League and must have referees present at ALL times. So far, Bubba's consists of six wooded courses engulfing about (25) acres, a speedball course, and the largest Pro Shop in the area! Bubba's Paintball has approximately fifty rental units, a gas grill, a picnic area to rest and enjoy refreshments between games, and a brand new protected spectator area. Great field with proshop, 4 woodsball courses, a speedball course made of large round hay bales, a fort course, firing range, good woods field, Tippmmann prolites and PMI piranhas and a great speedball course with supair setup for tournaments and occasionally for walk-ons. The field rocks staff is always friendly; they always have cheerful people their and no people that are just out to kill you or something. There are always a range of levels with a bunch of fields and tournaments are always teams ready to play. If they start a league it will be crazy (fun). If a gun brakes and you can’t fix it is sure there is something that can whether staff or players. Bubbafest has occurred for several years and has been a safe and fun time to all who helped or participated. Up to this point SPC has never entered a team into the tournament. However we are looking to begin competing with other teams in the area in order to further advance our teamwork skills and make our club more widely known. The tournament usually takes place in the mid-October time period each year, and an entry fee of $150 and a team roster must be registered before the date of the actual tournament. During the tournament itself the only other necessity is to purchase paint from the field. They do not allow non-field paint to be used during the tournament nor any other time. The cost of a 2,000 round case of paint is fifty-five dollars. There are trophies for first through third places as well as t-shirts given to all who participate in the tournament. Mark Harnisch, owner of Bubba's Paintball, said he sees all sorts of different groups come to his fields to give paintball a try. He said he normally sees birthday parties and bachelor parties, adding that a sorority is scheduled to paintball in October. Harnisch said he often gets return visits from groups after their first experience. "Once they come in, they usually keep coming back out," he said. Paintball is a good thing to do if you are trying to build group collaboration. For players who want to own equipment, they can visit Paintball Explosion at Services:
