Winter Dance Party

winter dance party at Eau Claire Regional Arts CenterEau Claire’s historic State Theatre celebrated its 81st year in 2007! It first opened as a vaudeville theatre in 1926. Several years later, it was converted to a movie house that closed in 1982. Shortly thereafter, a group of arts-minded community members formed the Eau Claire Regional Arts Council for the purpose of restoring the State Theatre and transforming it into a center for artistic expression.

The Winter Dance Party has become an annual tradition at the State Theatre - the official tribute to Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. “Winter Dance Party,” the official live and authentic tribute show, re- creates Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper’s final tour at Eau Claire Regional Arts Center for the best entertainment. Each concert includes over two hours of unbridled, high-voltage entertainment featuring all the hit songs of the 50’s era: “That’ll Be The Day,” “Peggy Sue,” “Oh, Boy,” “Rave On,” “La Bamba,” “Chantilly Lace,” and many, many more.

This authentic, live re-creation is considered the best tribute to Buddy Holly in the world. This performance features over two hours of high-energy entertainment featuring crowd-pleasing favorites of the 50’s era. You will find the State Theatre easy to locate in the heart of downtown Eau Claire. Ample parking is available in nearby city lots and several downtown restaurants offer special menus for theatergoers.

Today, national touring shows perform here as part of the Arts Center’s Mainstage Season. The State Theatre is also home stage to many local arts organizations, including the Chippewa Valley Symphony, Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild and the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre.
