The Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry and Technology, Inc., (CFMIT) interprets a rich, varied history of manufacturing and processing that began in the 1840s and continues today. CFMIT relates the story of industry, as well as telling about the area and people. The Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry and Technology has new and exciting educational programs. It has a two-fold mission: First, you will interpret the rich, varied history of the manufacturing and processing industries that have existed here since the beginning of the community in the 1840s. Within the context of the history of these industries, they will also tell of their area and its people. The second part of mission is to inspire interest and understanding of the technological principles fundamental to historic and contemporary industries. Development of a humanities-based interpretive plan for a new industrial heritage museum and intend to serve a broad audience, including all ages and educational backgrounds. CFMIT is open to the public year-round, providing visitors with a look at the variety of industries that started here, from fur-trading and logging days, up to the most current nano-technologies. Museum also exhibits include the Seymour Cray Supercomputer Collection, "Leap into Lakes" hands on activities, an interactive learning area and historic photographs/documents of early Chippewa Valley industries. Experience first hand the legacy of Chippewa Falls at The Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry and Technology. The Museum interprets a rich, varied history of manufacturing and processing that began in Chippewa Falls in the 1840's. It is a very interesting and educational museum to take your family to.
