Tour guides share 130 years of changing tastes and lifestyles of a Midwestern lumber baron family. The Victorian elegance of a lumbeer baron legacy 1846-1974. Three generations of family history and its original family furnishings including crystal, china, furniture, silver fabrics and clothing. Founders of Menomonie, University of Wisconsin-Stout, and Knapp, Stout & Co. lumber company built and rebuilt the Wilson Place throughout its tenure.

Wilson Place Museum and Gift Shop in Menomonie, WIThe home and a majority of its contents were acquired by a local family in 1974, who opened the home as a museum to preserve its unique heritage, focusing on the high Victorian period of the Wilson family's greatest affluence. They extensively remodeled & expended the home into a Queen Anne style mansion including 17 fireplaces, a third floor ballroom and a carved mahogany staircase.

Special events include a lavish Victorian Christmas or Angelinas wedding (exhibition of antique wedding dresses). A gift shop carries quality Victorian reproductions, 42 themed Christmas trees during the holidays and a unique variety of unusual gifts from around the world and hand-crafted items by local artists.
