The Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company is giving craft beer lovers a new brew inspired by the rich golden sunsets of the Northwoods. They take you through the history of the mill, explain how the mill came to be and will walk you through from the brewing area to bottling. The specialty brewer will add Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat, a crisp and refreshing year-round offering, to its family of premium craft beers. Brewed in small, high-quality batches at Leinenkugel's brewery, Sunset Wheat features a slightly fruity and citrus character, complimented by the gentle spiciness of coriander.

Each year thousands of visitors make the Leinenkugel Brewery a stop on their trip to the Northwoods. Experience first hand how Leinenkugel quality beer is brewed and bottled. Call ahead for the tour schedule. Visit the hospitality center/gift shop open year round.

One barrier to greater distribution of Leinenkugel's was that the beer was made with no chemicals, unlike most national brand beers. This gave it a short shelf life, and so it was difficult for the company to imagine it could penetrate into wider markets. Leinenkugel also produces a variety of seasonal and specialty beers, and these make up the remaining 60 percent of sales. Within the Miller Brewing Company, Leinenkugel operates as part of a division called the American Specialty and Craft Beer Company.

While it is regrettable that a brewery with 150 years of history has abandoned traditional German styles of beer, the Chippewa Falls brewery gives an excellent tour. Visitors are welcomed at the Leinie Lodge, a modern gift shop and small museum selling Leinenkugel's breweriana. There is an outdoor picnic area.

Visiting Hours & Tour Schedule:

The Leinie Lodge is closed only Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. Maximum 15 people per tour. Reservations. It is noted that The brewery tour involves a lot of standing, walking and stair-climbing. Offer a video tour as an alternative. recommended.
