Representative Jeff Smith in Madison, WI

Jeff Smith was born and raised in Eau Claire, graduating from North High School, and has lived there his whole life. He began helping his Dad when he was 12 years old with their family business, Bob Smith Window Cleaning, and went to work full-time with him after graduation and eventually took over the business at the age of 32. He recently celebrated the company's 50th anniversary, making it the oldest locally owned family business in Eau Claire.

At the age of 32 he moved with his family to the Town of Brunswick where he began to get involved with both the Township and his local PTA when his two daughters started school. In 2001 he was elected Town Chair, a position in which he served until he came to the State Assembly. He also served on the Wisconsin Parent Teacher Association State Board from 2001 to 2003.

Jeff was elected to the State Assembly for the first time in 2006 and was re-elected in 2008. He now serves as Chair of the Committee on Elections and Campaign Reform. He is also a member of the Committees on Colleges and Universities, Education, Financial Institutions, Renewable Energy and Rural Affairs and Public Safety.

During his time in the Assembly, Jeff has made protecting Chippewa Valley values a priority. It's these values that make living in Wisconsin so rewarding, like great schools, an independent spirit, involved citizens, a good work ethic, and a healthy standard of living. Jeff is a strong advocate for public school funding reform, campaign finance reform, restoring tax fairness and closing special interest loopholes, and investing in the state's higher education systems.

Representative Jeff Smith is a member of Eau Claire Area Chamber of commerce Since 2009.
